Young Scientist Award (YSA) for the Best Platform and Best Poster Presentation

The SETAC Europe Young Scientist Awards (YSA) include the best platform and the best poster award. The ECETOC Best Platform Award honours the early career scientist with the best platform presentation at the SETAC Europe Annual Meeting. The Best Poster Award honours the early career scientist with the best poster presentation at the SETAC Europe Annual Meeting.

The two Young Scientist Awards are intended to honour individual prominent performance in scientific work of a MSc student OR a scientist within 3 year from MSc graduation, OR a PhD student. Both award winners are invited to the next SETAC Europe Annual Meeting.

Evaluation procedure

Each presentation will be judged by 3 randomly selected scientists out of the audience. The reviewers can give a maximum of 60 scores and in the end the average score will be used the define the winner.

See an example evaluation sheet here. The platform or poster presentation will be evaluated on the basis of originality of the approach; quality of the work (e.g. appropriate methodology, interpretation of results, conclusiveness); and quality of the presentation (e.g. clarity, response to questions).

For the poster presentations the reviewers will come to your poster during one of the poster viewing time slots. Here the oral delivery and defence of presentation will be judged based on questions the reviewer or other meeting participants will ask. If you are not able to attend your poster for a specific time, we would recommend you to post a small notice at your poster and specific the time your are back. We also encourage reviewers to visit the posters more than once, if the YSA applicant is not present.
