Reddit Ask Me Anything

Date: Monday 8 May  | Time: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.    | Place: SETAC Square

SETAC Europe and its Student Advisory Council will host for the second time a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session (online platform) on Monday 8 May from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the SETAC Square.

The Reddit platform encourages discussion and facilitates outreach while bridging the gap between practicing scientists and the general public. It is a great opportunity for anyone in the world curious about our science to ask their questions.

Students work with experts (scientists) and established researchers at the conference to answer the questions on the range of topics SETAC covers.

SETAC Europe is seeking volunteers to work with a student facilitator to answer online questions. There is no experience required! Bring a cup of coffee and a sense of humor, and use this opportunity to get to know some of the bright young researchers working in the society! Please contact Delphine Delire for more information.

Tell us #WhySETAC matters to you!

Now is a time when we need clear, engaging, and enthusiastic voices from the scientific community. SETAC Global Executive Director Charlie Menzie recently wrote a Globe article highlighting the importance of science communication and asked SETAC members to think about how conversations about our work and our research can better resonate with others. To help get the conversation started, we’re interested in hearing your thoughts about how we can achieve Environmental Quality Through Science and #WhySETAC is the place to do it!

We are currently looking for volunteers who would be willing to share their thoughts as part of a short video interview during the SETAC Brussels meeting. We want to hear why you attend SETAC meetings, what you gain from the conference, what you want others outside of SETAC to know about our Society, and how the research presented at this year’s meeting is important for environmental and human health.

If you’d like to be one of our interviewees, please contact Delphine Delire. We will then arrange a time to conduct a short video interview (10-15 minutes) during the SETAC Brussels meeting. These clips will be shared on our SETAC social media profiles. You can also tweet us your thoughts directly using the #WhySETAC or #SETACBrussels hashtags.
