Sustainability Initiatives SETAC Europe is undertaking for its 27th Annual Meeting:

  • Catering: Use of crockery and glass to avoid the use of plastic
  • Catering: Maximum use of local products
  • Catering: Wednesday is “veggie day” – the lunch is 100% vegetarian for all participants
  • Catering: SETAC is working together with SAMUSocial in Brussels. This organisation collects every day the leftovers from the coffee breaks and lunches during our meeting to distribute them the same evening to homeless people in Brussels.
  • Reusable foldable water bottles will be distributed to all participants and water fountains will be at the disposal of our delegates
  • Reduced number of handouts
  • The conference bags are made out of 100% recycled PET, non woven material
  • Lanyards that are returned to SETAC (at the end of the meeting) will be reused for smaller meetings such as the YES meeting and the SETAC Africa meeting.
  • Recycled paper used for the programme book
  • Travel: Promotion of travelling by train in offering special rates (Eurostar) to reduce carbon footprint
